UAE Changemakers have been using their experiences within the country to create connections and make change around the world, like in Kerala (India)!
"In the past few years thanks to the eco club in my school, I have been given many opportunities to explore my talents, learn new interesting things, and incorporate sustainable and more environment-friendly methods in my activities. During my school vacation, I got a chance to go around not only the UAE , but also my home country, India. First I visited ''god's own country'', Kerala!, Just the sights of the trees, mountains and the species living took my eyes away and made me realize what a true beauty and majestic creation nature really is. I found many cities and places in India that tried to incorporate sustainability. I got a chance to visit one of the most sustainable airports in India:- Cochin International Airport, Cochin International Airport is breaking barriers when it comes to sustainability – something rare in the area of aviation and something that the industry as a whole is now striving for and has a long way to go. The Cochin International Airport became the first 'green airport' in the world after generating its power from solar energy. I also got a chance to be a part of contributing to a plastic campaign in The Kozhikode Railway station, Adding more plastic bottles to a plastic booth. I am pleased to know that I got a chance to witness in front of me everyone's initiatives to let go of plastic from their lives. Apart from this I also got to visit one of the most sustainable cities in India, Bangalore, where I got to experience and visit places portraying mother nature. Bangalore is also known as “The Garden City” of India. I was also able to see and experience the journey of travelling on the most sustainable train of India; The railways have adopted various environment-friendly measures in Vande Bharat Express that would help reduce its use of harmful chemicals. India’s first semi-high-speed express train, Vande Bharat Express, is also the first ‘green train’ of the Indian Railways. It was a privilege and such a wonderful sight to see the way people are trying to promote sustainability to it fullest not only in the UAE but across the globe as well."
